Editorial : Is the Wii Virtual Console getting more credit than it deserves?
Monday
Let me start off by saying I do in fact own a Wii and love it. I truly believe that Nintendo is doing some innovative things that deserve accolades, however; Virtual Console is not one of them. What brought me to this is today's release of The Legend of Zelda : The Ocarina of Time for $10 USD. The general Internet buzz is a cheer to the heralds of Nintendo, but am I the only one who has a problem paying $10 for a game that Nintendo gave away for free (in one form or another) a mere 4 years ago. The fact that if you still have this disc it will play on the Wii only makes the situation worse.
Again, I still love Nintendo, but they are getting the praise of downloadable content done right when compared to other console makers. I just feel that considering the depth of their library and the other libraries they have added, there should have been like 100 to 200 games to buy from day one, and not this slow trickle that has you shelling out $5 dollars or more per week. Now that would have been downloadable content done right.
This is but one man's opinion, so feel free to share yours @ The HDGN Forums

What about those who have been out of the video gaming loop since they first played Ocarina? Sure, as a game-fanatic, if you will, I own Ocarina twice over on the Gamecube too (for free) but for the people who Nintendo is targeting with the Virtual Console, (ie not those of us who collect games, are still in the loop, and know about N64 games on Xbox and NES ROM packs online) the price is very reasonable.

I agree that it's overpriced...but I understand Nintendo's method of releasing games slowly. For people who haven't played these games, it's good to let them come at a reasonable pace so I can get a chance to check it out in depth. I've played a lot of the VC games before, but those that haven't, it's good to give them time to get the games they like.
