Nintendo Wii's graphics a year from now = Boring and Stagnant ?

It's no secret that the Nintendo Wii has gotten of to a tremendous start. It seems that Nintendo's simplistic approach to this new console generation is working great, for now anyway. However, 2 to 3 years from now will the Wii still be so highly regarded? Will the graphics hold up against 3rd and 4th generation Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 titles? Believe it or not folks but graphics do matter.

As this new console generation evolves our expectations of what games look like will be raised significantly. I mean look at how far the Xbox 360 pushed the envelope with Gears of War. Do not forget triple A titles will also be coming to the Playstation 3 down the road that will probably push the envelope even further. Can you imagine a God of War 3 as a 3rd generation PS3 game. Both the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 have incredible graphical potential. The Nintendo Wii on the other hand will probably top out visually relatively soon in the systems life. Will consumers get bored?

Yes I realize that the Nintendo DS is absolutely killing the more powerful Sony PSP at retail. However, that is in the handheld area. Will it work the same way with home consoles? Do consumers demand more from their home consoles?

I find myself playing with my Wii less and less the further away from launch we get. Yes its fun to me but only in short bursts when I have friends over. (That just does not seem right saying that).

Will the Wii turn into the next Gamecube after the hype has gone? Only time will tell.

The DS is a perfect example of why the Wii will not grow stagnant. It is incredibly interactive and has only gotten better as developers have gotten more comfortable using the unorthodox style. The same will most likely occur with the Wii as developers become more comfortable with the Wii remote's possibilities. Graphics are nice, but fun is better.
