Xbox 360 slams Playstation 3 again?

In the March 2007 issue of Game Informer Magazine "NBA Street Homecourt" was recently reviewed. As expected the game had scored a solid 8.75. However, something unexpected was that the game looked the best on the Xbox 360 as opposed to the Playstation 3.

Quoted: "I'd give the nod to the 360 in terms of visuals, but either way this game features great texturing, character models and jaw-droppingly smooth animations."

Earlier this week we reported the same issue with comparisons of Fear on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. Again the Xbox 360 coming out on top.
See the article here.

Tell me again. Why do we need to pay an extra $200?

Digg it

I have 2 Xbox360's and 1 wii. I think the 200 differance is the blue ray. Xbox360 didn't come with the hd dvd drive? Ohh well and It doesnt have 60 gigs. Still not getting a ps3 anytime soon tho.

Bearing in mind of course, that the 360 is now on second/third generation software and the developers are still trying to figure out how to get the best of the Cell and the seven extra SPUs, I would say that if I was a 360 owner (and I used to be) I would be worried that the first generation PS3 titles are comparable to the current generation of 360 titles.

Oh dear.

Developers have had PLENTY of time to figure out the PS3. The PS3 was intended to be released in MARCH 2006. It was delayed several times because of BluRay diode production problems. In reality, most of the latest multi-platform games have had the same amount of dev time on both the 360 and PS3.

PS3's first gen is actually more like second gen...so PS3 owners should be worried that multiplatform games are performing worse on their console of choice.

cannonb8 you said"I would be worried that the first generation PS3 titles are comparable to the current generation of 360 titles."
Did you read the article? They are talking about a NEW title(NBA Street Homecourt),so it's not a first generation title.

This is an EA game. EA games so far have all been better looking on the 360 then on the PS3. The reason for this is EA is rushing things. The game was obviously ported poorly so that it could be put out there quicker for EA to make money. EA has become a bottom of the barrel company, more interested in making money then actually doing things the right way.

All PS3 games are 1st generation games, 1.) and 2.)developers did not have devkits as long as 360 devkits, this is a falacy. Just because the PS3 was supposed to come out on March of 06, doesnt mean that all the developers had the devkits. Only some of them did. So get it straight and stop spreading this bullshit lie. Otherwise i wanna hear the dates that these companies got their devkits on and what companies. And i dont wanna just hear about two or three companies, i wanna hear about all of them. and another thing that people also seems to forget is that half of these devkits that SOME developers got early on are not final kits, but rather alpha or beta kits which are usually very incomplete and inefficient. So get it straight morons, and stop with your fucking bullshit, you morons

"However, something unexpected was that the game looked the best on the Xbox 360 as opposed to the Playstation 3."

Why is this "something unexpected"? Every single cross-platform title to date has looked better on the Xbox 360 than the PS3. Stop being surprised by the simple fact that the Xbox 360 is the superior gaming platform, and naturally games look better on it.

Cannonb8, if you'll recall, Xbox launch titles kicked the crap out of second-generation PS2 titles, graphically speaking. This despite developers having longer with their PS2 devkits. Face it: the PS3 just isn't a very good gaming platform. Sony tricked you into buying a $600 Blu-ray player. That was their intention all along; with a lack of good games out there, you'll have nothing better to do with your shiny black behemoth than buy Blu-ray disks. If Blu-ray wins the format war (and I believe it probably will), Sony will make massive coinage in royalties, and that's what they're after. They couldn't care less about gamers.

your idiots still buy those stupid ea games?lol...idiots. keep your stoopids games who wants them...

fanboys everywhere....bottom line is this...it's been stated time after time that the ati graphics card in the 360 is superior to the nvidia card in the ps3....it's not about the not cpu, not about development time...wasting my time here, just sick of seeing the same argument

All of you are fooking noobs. The game in question should ATLEAST!!! look as good as the 360 version. It doesnt. Meaning if it was an exact port from the 360 and no dev time was done for the PS3 it would LOOK EXACTLY THE SAME. Also considering the game is 1080P on both consoles, it sounds like it was being worked on for PS3 first as it is a 1080P title.... Considering the Xbox 360 runs this game in 1080p and looks better on the 360, it sounds to me like the 360 is more powerful. The 360 has 3 processor cores all with their own dedicated memory. the PS3 has 1 w/ 7 SPE's that dont have their own memory. The 360 has a better videocard then the PS3's Nvidia solution. 360's is also capable of AA and HDR at the same time, where Nvidia's is not..... The bottom line is, not which console is more powerful. AS I TRUELY BELIEVE THEY ARE MORE EQUAL THEN ANYONE IS WILLING TO ADMIT. The who reason this is so funny, is SONY said they had superior hardware and THE TRUTH IS THEY DONT. If anything they meet the Xbox 360, which is sad as they had a whole extra year.... I fair to say anything that can be done on the PS3 can be done on the 360 and vice versa. The only difference is the entry price. Like atleast 360 owners get COMPONENT cables with their 360's. So its technically like $250 more to play your PS3 on your HD TV........

not to mention that the dumbest thing sony ever did was separate the RAM to 256mb video 256mb system preventing developers from allocating it's themselves..a reason why ps3 will ALWAYS be bottlenecked

From what I've read, it would seem that PS3 has a slightly better processor, while the 360 has a slightly better graphics card. Needless to say, games will look similar on the two consoles for their lifespan. The question is, which one has better games? I vote the 360 hands down. The words "PS3" and "exclusive" are used less and less these days. Thank goodness for Microsoft's fat wallet!

All i can & will say is... XBOX Live, sony can not beat it & alot of devs are leaving out online mutliplayer, sure playing with your mates at home is good, but online is way better..

Guys the Xbox 360 gpu is way ahead of the PS3 it has the same features as the latest 8 series Nvidia and soon to be released ATi R600 series GPU the only thing the 360 GPU doesnt have is a full set of DX10 instructions.

The PS3 gpu is based on a 7800GTX meaning no unified shader and multi texuring and HDR+AA at the same time and most of all no 10mb EDRAM - the PS3 takes a lot of performance hit on the GPU especially when doing 1080p it also has 1 cell dedicated just for the interface.

When the original XBox came out (a year later) it looked better than the ps2. So... the ps3 "should" look better than the 360... but it desn“t

I wish Bill Gates and Microsoft would grow up its obvious they envy Sony and the Playstation brand
they keep saying they dont see Sony as a threat and are not botherd by them. Well if thats the case why keep putting them down at the slightest and every oppotunity they get.If someone really doesn't see someone as a threat to them or they are really not botherd they say nothing, nothing at all because they are irrelevant. The real reason they keep putting Sony down is because they are concerned and worried about the impact of the PS3.I hope the xbox 360 or future games consoles from Microsoft are never market leaders it will serve them right for being so childish and envious.

i just want to say that i personally detest the xbox brand. the entire lineage of xbox is playstation rip off. if it wasn't for microsoft getting ports of most of ps2's library, crap box would be dead as of mid 2002. dont even tell me that i didnt give them a chance because i had the first xbox before i had ps2. IT SUCKS. the ps brand will always be better; and all 360 has against us is Gears Of War. done forget that xb1 was also superior in terms of hardware, but that didnt seem to matter to the vast majority. the only reason why you idiots hate ps3 is because of the price, which really is a bargain. imma need for you xb360 asswholes to focus on long term instead of heer and now. i have a sneeky feeling that ps may come back in the coming years and once again become king. there are a lot of others like me who cant stand xbox. so lets not declare victory in the first year of a 5-10 year battle; you might be dissapointed. BITCHES

" Cannonb8, if you'll recall, Xbox launch titles kicked the crap out of second-generation PS2 titles, graphically speaking. "

Xbox = PC ... Pentium + Nvidia GPU... there's no learning curve.. dont be stupid... there's no "1st or 2nd generation games" on it....

all PS3 games are 1st Generation.. the First game of every editor or studio.. for the 360 it's not... They are used to the system.. they have more experiences and dev tools.. and the CPU is easier to use... without all this:
"I would be worried that the first generation PS3 titles are comparable to the current generation of 360 titles." is true.

ok reasons to get ps3, blu-ray, 60GB HDD, Cell Processor, Nvidia RSX, True 1080P, and actually XBOX360 cant run 1080P it is 720P scaled by the XBOX360 analog scaler to fit into a 1080P canvas and as we all know thats just not right. so get it str8 and also if the XBOX360 was so great after a year out in the market dont you think the graphics should well over excell a console that has less than 3 months out? think about it?... thought ok XBOX360 owners should sell their 360s while they still can and go buy urself the future of gaming... PS3.

Ps3 graphics processor is already outdated. You can see the nivida g70 (rsx) limitations in every single ps3 game, and ps3 will never catch up the 360 of the exakt same reason as a nivida 7800 equipped 3.2 GHz computer will not beat a nivida 8800 equipped 3.2 GHz computer.

At 6:08 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

The Cell was first made to do the work of the GPU and CPU... so Cell +( XDR + DDR )+ RSX > 360...
And dont forget the HDD... unlike the 360 it's a real part of the architecture...

At 1:13 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

"At 4:12 PM, Anonymous", then you must hate Sony too since if it wouldn't have been for Nintendo, ther would never have been a Playstation 1 to start with...

"and actually XBOX360 cant run 1080P it is 720P scaled by the XBOX360 analog scaler to fit into a 1080P canvas and as we all know thats just not right."
You are totally wrong. The XBox 360 can (and does) run games natively in 1080p if the games supports it. eg. NBA Street Homecourt and upcoming Virtua Tennis 3. All other games that are released as 720p can be upscaled to 1080p (which the PS3 can't do in most cases).

i own a 360, my friend owns a ps3, and when i went round to test it out, i was disgraced. i played resistance, which runs nicely il giv it that, but the rendering of the enviroments was a complete shambles, and looked no where near as good as perfect dark zero did, which was a 360 launch title. both these titles are platform exlusives, so no ports involved, and were both 1st gen games. i was planning on buying a ps3, but i was compelled not to after this.

also, hav any of u ps3 fanboys realised, that ps3 is begining to lose its top exclusive titles, devil may 4, ace combat, final fantasy (not just online, future FF games are coming to 360 also) thay even lost the rights to release GTA 4 first, even a rockstar exec stated " the ps3 will not have the sufficient base to see a return on our investment "

im not sayin that the ps3 is crap, nor is it destined to fail, but it certainy will no longer be the dominant platform.

what i have stated here is all fact, and have based it on the actuall games, rather than all this spec shite. at the end of the day, over 80% of console gamers only care about the games, and this is why the microsoft, and there consoles, are here to stay, and will be equal to, if not bigger than sony's overpriced ps3, blue ray or no blue ray.

people want a games console, and dont want to be forced into paying an extra 200 for a blue ray player that is 2 to 4 years ahead of its market. (at leasts consumers hav the option to buy one for the 360 and isnt compulsary)
